Scheduling and Absences:

-While Mixed Greens will remain open and available for child care during posted business hours, provider should be notified by Friday of individual schedule changes for drop-off and pick-up for the following week.

-Notification of a child’s absence or late/early arrival should be made as soon as possible.  Phone calls to report schedule changes can be made between 7am and 10pm.

Closings:

Mixed Greens will be closed for holidays, as observed by the state offices, with no subtractions from weekly tuition (full-time tuition will remain standard, even for partial weeks). Parents are responsible for back-up childcare during holiday and vacation closings.

*When a last minute absence on the part of the provider is necessary and has not been prearranged, a certified substitute will be provided.

*In order to maintain position as a client/student of the Mixed Greens, standard tuition will continue to be due when the child is not in attendance for any reason, including temporary illness. (In some circumstances, arrangements can be made for extended absences and/or vacations.)

Illness Policy:

Children will be visually screened as they arrive. If a child exhibits signs of illness, it will be determined by the center if the symptoms indicate the need for exclusion until remedied. In the event a child becomes ill and needs to be picked up, the child will be separated from the rest of the children until a parent or other authorized person arrives.

Your child will not be allowed to attend Mixed Greens, or will be sent home during the day, if at any time he/she exhibits any of the following symptoms:

-Any Communicable Illness/Disease

-Fever of 100 degrees or higher (must remain home until 24 hours past)

-Diarrhea (must remain home until 24 hours past last episode)

-Vomiting (must remain home until 24 hours past last episode)

-Oozing or Raised Rash

-Eye Discharge or Pink Eye

-Lice or nits (proof of treatment must be submitted)

-Too lethargic or ill to play

*Attendance is at the discretion of the Director or Representative of Mixed Greens Preschool.

Medications:

Written consent is required to administer ANY medication, including Nebulizers.  Mixed Greens will provide you with a Medication Authorization form when necessary.  All prescription medication must be in its original container and properly labeled with the child’s name. Your pharmacist may be able to provide you with a separate, properly labeled container of medicine that can be left at the center.

Food:

Parents are responsible for supplying daily lunch.  Mixed Greens will supply two nutritious snacks a day, including choice of Organic Whole Milk or Nut Milk and 100% Juice (watered).

Snacks will be mostly organic, with no artificial sweeteners or coloring.  No sugary treats will be offered.

*If enough families are interested, we will participate together in CSA Produce program and/or a state subsidized food program.  (TBA)

Use of the refrigerator and/or freezer is permitted, as well as use of the microwave and/or toaster for preparation.  Filtered water will be made available at all times.

**Please refrain from including any sugary/dessert snacks, or those with high levels of artificial coloring…healthy eating habits start young!

*If you are breastfeeding, we will work with you in any way possible to help you and your child maintain a successful and rewarding nursing experience!

You are responsible for providing Diapers and any ointments/powders for your child. We will provide unscented, hypoallergenic baby wipes (feel free to bring your own if you would prefer).

*Fresh paper liners will be provided to cover the changing table before any diapering; however, if you would prefer to provide your own personal diaper changing mat for use by your child, it can be left in his/her diaper cubby.

Pick-up and Drop-off:

-Hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 8:30am-1:00pm (Hoen Ave) or 7:30am-6:00pm (Lia Lane).  If someone other than the parent/guardian will be picking up your child, the operator must be notified via phone call & the alternate caregiver should be provided the sign-in/out pin#.

-Unannounced parent drop-ins are always welcome…come play with us!  🙂

Late Pick-up or Drop-off:

Fees for late pick-up and/or early drop-off (before or after operating hours) will be $10 per 10 minutes. Do not drop off early or pick up late without prior notification and approval, except in cases of emergency. If your child is not picked up by 15 minutes past the agreed upon time, and Mixed Greens has not been notified of a late pick up, we will begin calling your emergency contacts to arrange alternate transportation. Repeated late pick up may be grounds for termination of services.

Field Trips:

Field trips and nature walks are an important part of our program and will be taken periodically.  The children will be well supervised at all times.  Off-site trips that require vehicular travel will only be taken with written consent by parents, and with additional adults involved as chaperones.  Walking trips to Doyle Park (across the street from Mixed Greens) will also be taken for nature exploration and playground/field use.

Safe Travels:

We will not, and cannot legally, send a child away in unsafe conditions.  If the parent or guardian responsible for picking up is incapacitated in any way (sick, too tired, under the influence, etc.), we will help make other arrangements for safe travel.  Your chosen emergency contacts will be notified for alternative pick-up, or we will call a taxi to take you all home safely.  If a taxi is called, you will be responsible for reimbursing Mixed Greens your full fare.  Additionally, we will maintain an extra car seat on-site for if the need arises, as we cannot allow children to be released to unprepared drivers. This car seat must be returned the next business day.

As State Mandated Reporters of Child Endangerment, we must call 911 immediately if a child is removed or dealt with in an unsafe manner.
